Internet Background
  • World Wide Web is a part of the Internet
  • Web browsers access web pages on web servers and read and interpret the code written html, xhtml, xml, etc.
  • Domain names are registered and assigned internet addresses
  • Domain name servers translate the domain name, www.amazon.com, into an IP address so the browser can find the web site
Design & Build Process

Option 1 Build the website on your pc using web design software
  • Sign up for a web hosting account and register a domain name
  • Design and produce the web pages using software on your pc
  • Transfer the web pages to your web host's web serve
  • Test out your new or changed web site
  • Update and maintain your website on your pc, then load the changes to your web host

Option 2 Build the website at a web host site

  • Use a website builder program at a web host to build your web site and then publish it to the Internet
  • Update and maintain your website through the web host’s software at their site
